Special Auction Services Newsletter ? April & May 2008
Welcome to the second Special Auction Services Newsletter for April and May 2008. We thank you for your continued support and we hope you have had a good April, and you really enjoy May.
There are several interesting bits of news for you. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or comments regarding the newsletter by email: newsletter@specialauctionservices.com
April saw a successful Signed & Designed auction. The prices realised are on the website (www.specialauctionservices.com). As ever, the really good items in the auction sold well, however, there appears to be a reluctance in the air at the moment as people, both in the trade and private buyers are being quite cautious. The star lot was a nice Merrow & Associates extending dining table that realised ?980 hammer price. We also had an interesting Graal glass vase that ended up selling for ?580. The smallest stars of the sale were a collection of Whitefriars Millefiori glass paperweights that sold really well. In all we sold about 75% of the items.
Now we have some space again, and we are inviting you to enter items into the September Signed & Designed auction. Give Thomas or Neil a call on 0118 971 2949.
On 17th April we had a Jewellery valuation day. Thomas was booked solid with half hour appointments from 09:30 to 17:00, and had to schedule a number of appointments the following day. We will be doing another valuation day in the coming weeks and will also include our charity Alexander Devine Cancer Care Trust in as well.
Thomas will be closing the June Jewellery, Watches, Coins & Silver auction in the next week or so. If you were looking to enter items in for sale, give him a call now. Already included in the auction are a large number of lots of both fine and costume jewellery, quite a large amount of silver and silver plate, more than 50 lots of coins and a number of watches.
On the 5th April we had a Toys for the Collector auction. It was a really fantastic auction with 834 lots and only 2 items unsold. Again, go to the website for the prices realised. The largest collection was the Schell diecast collection that sold really, really well for a very happy Mr Schell in Amsterdam.
The 5th July Toys for the Collector auction, is almost full now. Nigel has been busy putting together a diverse and interesting collection of items for you. There is a great selection of diecast, dolls, teddy bears, tin-plate toys, and we have loads of model train lots for both private collectors and those in the trade.
We are pleased to announce that we will be attending the Alexander Devine Cancer Care Trust annual ball and charity auction again this year hosted by Sir Michael Parkinson on Friday 16th May. Thomas will be auctioning some fantastic lots, including dinner for six at Claridges, a Formula 1 driving experience of a lifetime and loads of other great stuff. As well as Neil helping on the evening, we have booked a table for ten, to include Lucie and her husband Steve who will be dressed to the nines! For more details visit: www.adcct.com
The December 2008 Trains Galore auction is beginning to look like it will be a wonderful auction. The items and collections we already have ready will certainly please all. Contact us for more details.
April also saw eBay?s move away from LiveAuctions. The SAS strategy has always been to ensure we offer a professional and traditional room based auction service to both our vendors and our buyers. It will cause some turmoil for others, but we are pleased to announce we will not be affected in anyway, shape or form and will carry on holding successful room based auctions for all our specialist auctions.
For more information on any of the above email: newsletter@specialauctionservices.com. The website continues to work very well, however, we are working on the the format still and this includes our newsletter, and the next one you receive will be much slicker! |
