Special Auction Services Newsletter

June and July 2008

Welcome to the June and July SAS newsletter. Thank you very much for taking the time to sign up and read through our newsletter.

Toys for the Collector

The October auction is shaping up to be a very good sale indeed. We have a good range of diecast, tinplate and trains already catalogued for the auction. There will also be some interesting teddy bears and dolls being offered. Also within the auction we have a wonderful James Bond collection.

The toy auction on 5th July was a great success. We had over two hundred people here throughout the sale day, and lots of people viewed the auction ahead of time. All the sections did well, including the Dinky, Corgi, trains, dolls and teddy bears. We had very few lots unsold and the total auction made over ?90k. Remember to go to the website or contact us for more details to discuss your subscription.

Visit to Highclere Castle and meeting Gerry Anderson

On 18th June Thomas and Neil were invited by the Alexander Devine Cancer Care Trust (ADCCT) for a private viewing of the Egyptian collection at Highclere Castle with Lord and Lady Canarvon. We also had the great privilege of meeting Gerry Anderson, the creator of Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlett and Stingray. Gerry is now one of the patrons of ADCCT along with Sir Michael Parkinson. We had a really great evening and Gerry was very interested to hear what his memorabilia from the shows are selling for?

Jewellery, Watches, Coins and Silver auction

The June Jewellery auction was very busy. We had a couple of surprise lots that made some very good prices. In particular, we sold a Waterman?s Art Deco pen set for ?800, and a gold mounted shell cameo realised ?720. We already have some good items to sell in our November auction, however, if you wish to offer any items please contact Thomas on 0118 971 2949.

Valuation days

Due to the success of our ?Are You Sitting On A Fortune?? advert we had a good turn out for our valuation day on 26th June. We also ran a valuation day for the New School in Sevenoaks on 22nd June, which was also well attended. We are going to organise another valuation day soon, so contact us or keep your eye on the website. Another date for your diary is 7th September, when we will be valuing items at the ADCCT?s Mad Hatters tea party in Windsor?

Trains Galore

The auction for December 2008 is really shaping up. So far, we have over 300 lots of really good quality items of catalogued. Do not forget to pencil in Thursday 11th December, as we will be having a late viewing and eveing reception. In the next few weeks we will be enlisting the help of Mark Asher to help us with photography and front cover design. We are also looking to invest in upgrading our current photography equipment to ensure the catalogue will be first class.

Signed & Designed

Following a good auction in April, we are busy putting the next Signed & Designed auction together. So far, we have a collection of Whitefriars glass, a collection of Art Deco bronzes, plus a host of glass, ceramics, works of art and furniture. We will be closing the sale quite soon, however, please contact Neil or Thomas to discuss offering items for auction.

Thank you once again for subscribing to the newsletter. If you have any questions or wish to receive more details on any of the above, then do not hesitate to contact us. We look forward to writing to you again soon.

Kindest regards, the SAS team
