Preview Lot - Military section

Percival Yasuski Sekine, a WWII Japanese-British Royal Air Force Air Gunner, Ex-Prisoner of War and Famous Judo/Boxing Instructor, his medals comprising of the Air Crew Europe, 1939-45 Star and the Medal, Sekine was awarded the Gold Caterpillar for surviving an air jump from his plane as it crashed, he was a Prisoner of War in Stalag 383, where during his time there he taught Judo and ran various tournaments. In between this Sekine and a number of other POW's from three different huts, known as the 'Hohenfels Gallopers', made a number of attempts to escape the camp, one being on Wednesday 25th August 1943, these times known as 'Open Season', they all had at least three escapes to their names, he was also very well known in the boxing and judo world, also in the lot Sekine's black belt, his home made boxing badge, the later official example, his RAF cap badge and wings, plus other badges and images of him, all well displayed in a glazed frame

A Boer War period Kings Royal Rifle Corps Full Dress Tunic, in dark green, with red collar, having applied bullion design, with Royal Coat of Arms badges to the collar, epaulettes, complete with black leather cross-over belt, with applied silver badge, whistle and chain, and pouch to the reverse, the silver hallmarked Birmingham 1901 and 1902, this uniform would have been issued to a Major of the Reserves

Cricket Handbill 1827

This wonderful piece of cricket history is a printed handbill dated 1827 listing the two sides, 255mm x 197mm,  Royal Brighton Cricket Ground. England against Sussex. The Third Grand Match of Cricket will be played on the above ground, for 1000 Sovereigns, on Monday, the 23rd day of July, 1827, and following days. (some crease marks and surface abrasion, slightly soiled)  This handbill was purchased at Christie's in 2010 by the vendor.
