A fine and large 19th century Grodnertal carved wooden doll with comb tuck, with pale blue painted eyes, top eyelashes and arched brow, sharply pointed carved nose with delicate red mouth and chin, rosy cheeks, ears pierced into the head, black painted hair falling in curls onto the face, a carved and yellow painted hair comb, slender neck and painted shoulders, carved wooden jointed body with painted forearms and lower legs with green painted slippers, original muslin dress with puffed sleeves, blue silk ribbon trim, pale brownish gold glazed cotton underdress, white cotton petticoat and pantaloons, light brown figured silk cape with arm holes and large brown velvet collar and moiré white poke bonnet, blue ribbon trim and brim lined with muslin and crossed and tied ribbons —19 ¼in.
