Approx 160 3¼'' B&W Magic Lantern Slides Relating to a WWI RAF Squadron, serving in the Middle East 1914-1920, in large wood slide carrier, with address label to Squadron Leader Smart, including scenes of F2B Brisfits, officer groups in front of aircraft, aircraft in flight, flight plans of Cairo to Baghdad, local tribes men & villagers, Fordson tractor & bomb damage, possibly Waziristan revolt 1919-20 or Mesopotamia 1920's and other scenes, auction records show these slides were part of the squadron leader Smart collection auctioned at S.A.S. in 2012, squadron leader Smart was the acting commander of No. 6 Squadron in Mosul, Iraq (Mesopotamia), in the 1920s, during world war II he was Air Vice-Marshal (AVM) Smart was the Air Officer Commanding (AOC) at RAF Habbaniya in the Kingdom of Iraq when Iraqi rebels (Anglo-Iraq War of May 1941) took up strong positions on the plateau overlooking the base with the objective of overrunning the base, he was also AOC of all RAF forces in Iraq and reported to Air Officer Commanding Arthur Longmore and to Air Vice-Marshal (Acting Air Marshal) Arthur Tedder of the RAF Middle East Command, he planned attacks and defeated the rebels
