An Early 19th Century German (?) silver snuff box inset with the Russian Alexander I medal for the "1814 Fall of Paris", the edge cast with roses and oak leaves. Lid set with 28 mm medal. Observe with the laureate head of Alexander I and radiating eye of providence. Reverse within, cyrilic text translating to "In Memory of Paris 19 March 1814". Maker's mark "GWM" with further hallmarks (possibly Stüttgart). Box 8.5 cm x 5.8 cm x 1.1 cm. 85 grams. Medal Bramsen 2270. Diakov-375.1 .(R4) Note:- Silver medals were awarded to the Russian officers who had participated in the 1814 campaign. Thumbpiece possibly gold.
