A scarce ticket to the Cambridge 'Peace' banquet on Parker's Piece July 12 1814, designed by Richard Banks Harraden (1778-1862). Engraving on card. "A Dinner Given by Subscription to 5000 Persons". Dove of peace holding ribbon inscribed "Peace to Europe" over a globe with names of allies. The ticket issued (verso) to "William Wallis" "Table 5". 9.4 cm x 13.1 cm. Exhibited:- Sir John Soane's Museum, 2014 (see Cat 2.8). Included are items of ephemera relating to this very ticket, including a 1985 press cutting from the "Cambridge Evening News" reporting that it was discovered in a shed in Trumpington. One corner restored.
