A rare 1814 gilded-bronze Peace of Paris medal badge or pendant, with pierced fretwork decoration. Obverse: Figure of peace holding an olive branch and corcucopia etc. With legend "They Shall Prosper that love thee". Reverse: Corucopia and Olive Branch within motto "Commemorate Peace Concluded Between Great Brittain and France 1814". Engraved with a name "W.F.Mends." 3.8 cm diameter. Together with two white metal medals of related designs by Kettle of Birmingham BHM 794 and BHM 798. Extremely Fine (the gilded medal). In a fitted leather case. Exhibited:- Sir John Soane's Museum, 1814 (see Cat.2.6 (illustrated)) Note:- Possibly awarded as a prize medal at one of the numerous celebrations.
