The Roy Addis Fire Mark Collection Part One – Lot 125 to Lot 288
Starting his insurance broking group in London U.K. in 1958, Roy Addis became fascinated by fire marks through a chance purchase of a few marks via the sale of an insurance brokerage in the early 1980s.
He went on to amass one of the UK’s largest and best quality collections of British fire marks ever seen, as well as becoming one of the leading authorities on the subject, and the author of the well renowned book ‘British Firemarks’, containing scale colour photographs of every variant of British fire marks in existence.
This is the first time that the collection has been offered for sale commercially and many of these fire marks will not have changed hands in more than forty years. They represent life time of devoted collecting and a dedication to the subject of fire marks.
