A family collection of Mignot Gerbeau-period figures Lot 355 to Lot 392
This family collection of lead figures was purchased in circa 1905 to 1910 and played with quite carefully, thence passing by descent and remaining in storage to the present time. It is now unusual to see collections of this early period remaining together. Overall, the collection displays typical issues from extended storage in varying conditions, that is, traces of lead rot and some brittleness, although storage in darkness has ensured overall richness of paint tonality. Playwear is noted wherever possible, such as damage to small parts, small parts detached or missing, and detailed inspection of the arrangement of horses, riders and saddles is advised.
