Single Owner Collection of Victorinox Penknives - Part One

Stephen Newman was born on Christmas Day 1963. Since he was very young, he was always interested in anything mechanical or electrical. His passions included collecting Swiss army knives.
Stephen was also a keen skier and visits to Switzerland enabled him both to ski and build his collection of Swiss army knives. His trips to Switzerland included visits to the Victorinox factory where, on one occasion, he was allowed to assemble his own Swiss army knife, engraved with the date of manufacture. (This knife is retained by the family as a treasured heirloom and is not included in the sale.)
Stephen amassed a collection of nearly 600 Swiss army knives (including at least one significant piece manufactured by Wenger, a company that later merged with Victorinox). The knives are often highly decorative. Some commemorate special events, and they are made with a range of materials, including damask steel. The knives feature all the colours of the rainbow, and represent many different countries. Stephen’s long association with Victorinox also led him to collect many of the company’s other products which he prized because of its high standard of engineering.
Stephen died in December 2022. He was collecting right up to the end, having acquired his last Swiss Army knife only days before his passing.
