A late 19th century Thüringen woman with extending long tongue, papier-mâché with inset glass eyes, wearing cotton bonnet, purple dress, blue shawl and white apron, one arm on her hip, when a string is pulled from the top of her head a very long red painted wooden tongue pokes out, there is another hole in her apron, probably to pull the tongue back in, but no longer connected, on circular wooden base —6 ½in. (16.5cm.) high (slight wear)
