Vivien Greene’s Dower House, a Georgian carpenter built English wooden dolls’ house, the stone painted exterior with central oak front door with six panels, originally with key lock, brass door knob, two square pillars supporting a triangular pediment, seven large windows with stepped ceils, the right side with two three pane windows with half circle window above, the same on the left side with similar windows and side door with internal bolt, flat roof with two chimneys and low wall surround, six more recent urn and ball finials, front opening with bolt opened through front door to reveal hall, stairs and landing with upstairs dummy door at rear, four panelled opening doors to each of the four rooms, the three main rooms with deep skirting boards including on the front walls, the kitchen with chimney breast and tinplate range, dining room with chimney breast with fire surround, painted pale pink, cream silk curtains woven with Morning Glory, a pair of gilt metal candle sconces and dark green floral needlework carpet, the first floor right with chimney breast and surround, painted pale green and the first floor left with chimney breast and surround, painted pale blue, printed cotton curtains, two tinplate pictures, a print of a sampler and carpet embroidered with roses —40in. (101.5cm.) wide x 23in. (58.5cm.) deep x 27 ½in. (70cm.) high (Vivien had painted ‘Dower House’ above the front door and there is a small metal plaque ‘The Vivien Greene Collection of Antique Doll’s Houses in her Rotunda Museum Oxford’, general aging, wear and repair) - this house appears in ‘The Vivien Greene Dolls’ House Collection’ book, published by Casswell, 1995, pages 50-53 and was purchased from Bonhams auction The Vivien Greene Dolls’ House Collection part II, 6th May 1999, lot 3 - the following 11 lots are items the current vendor had in this house -
