A rare Merrythought Punkinhead Teddy Bear, circa 1951, with brown mohair, clear and black glass eyes with white painted backs, inset velvet pronounced muzzle, black stitched nose and mouth, white long mohair topknot, pale brown mohair ear lining and belly, swivel head, jointed limbs with felt hand pads and velvet card lined feet, green felt shorts and printed yellow label on foot —10 ½in. (26.5cm.) high (faded and a little worn); a 1948 comic Punkinhead The Sad Little Bear (worn) and Punkinhead and Snow Fairy, dated 1949 for Eatons - Punkinhead was made exclusively as the mascot for Eaton's Department Store in Toronto. He became the hero of several storybooks, as well as the leader of the annual Santa Claus parade.
