A rare Merrythought Punkinhead teddy bear, circa 1951, with brown mohair, clear and black glass eyes with white painted backs, inset velvet muzzle, black stitched nose and mouth, golden mohair inner ear and chest, long white mohair scalp, swivel head, jointed limbs with velvet feet and brown felt pads, yellow shorts and label to foot, purchased in Montreal, Canada —13in. (33cm.) high (slight thinning, tiny fry to muzzle) - Punkinhead was made exclusively as the mascot for Eaton's Department Store in Toronto. He became the hero of several storybooks, as well as the leader of the annual Santa Claus parade - from the collection of Ruth Fraser
