A rare German Billy Possum opossum, 1909 with black tipped blonde mohair, replace brown boot button eyes, pronounced muzzle, pink stitched nose and mouth, light brown felt ears, swivel head, jointed limbs with pointed heel and felt pads, tail and inoperative squeaker —13in. (33cm.) high (bald to face and back, hole to chest, two pads recovered and one with holes) - the Teddy Bear was the mascot of President Roosevelt. The new President William Taft adopted this character as his mascot.
