A 1930s Merrythought Teddy Bear, with golden mohair, orange and black glass eyes, pronounced muzzle, black stitched nose, mouth and claws, swivel head, jointed limbs with brown felt pads, inoperative squeaker, woven label on foot and celluloid covered button in ear —16 ½in. (42cm.) high (thinning and wear to back, some general wear) - Designed by Florence Atwood in 1930, this is an example of one of their first bears, which made its debut in their 1931 catalogue. Merrythought used this actual bear as a prototype for an edition of The Merrythought Bear, made for TBW in 2022.
