A very rare childhood letter to Marjorie Darlington from Christopher Robin, on ‘Bad Sir Brian Botany’ headed paper with Ernest Shepard illustrations, ‘Dear Marjorie, Thank you for the camel with love from Billy - p.s. Anne and I are having a lovely time’, in original illustrated envelope of Christopher Robin on a tricycle addressed ‘Mrs Darlington, 75 Beaufort Mans, Chelsea, SW3, London’ —8in. (20.5cm.) high x 6 ¾in. (17.5cm.) wide - purchased in the same lot as Kanga and Roo from Christie’s South Kensington, 11th December 1995, lot 17 - Christopher Robin was called ‘Billy’ as a baby, he was later called ‘Moon’, after his early attempts at saying Milne - This letter was written when Christopher Robin was six, and just six months after Winnie the Pooh was first published. (The letter is postmarked April 1927. Christopher Robin was born August 1920.)
