A highly important print of Napleon as Emperor after Baron François Gérard (1770-1837) dedicated by the painter Gérard to the engraver, Napoleon as emperor in his coronation robes. Signed and dedicated by the artist to the engraver "A Monsr. Com. Desnoyers / Souvenir d'amite / Par Gérard". Engraved by Baron Auguste Boucher-Desnoyers (1779-1857). Published 1805. Final state with artist’s names. Title in cartouche below "Napoleon Le Grand" and with artist's details etc 'F. Gérard pinxit anno 1805 - Aug.te Boucher Desnoyers Sculpsit' and 'Imprimé par Ramboz'. Note:- Napoleon personally chose Desnoyers to engrave Gérard's Imperial portrait. The print took four years to complete and was exhibited at the Salon of 1810. 98.5 cm x 79.5 cm (framed).
