A mid 19th century Thüringen papier-mâché woman singing figure adopting The Grecian Bend, the characterful woman nodder in red bonnet with articulated jaw, yellow dress with large bustle and holding her hand as if she is about to sing, perhaps holding originally sheet music, on wooden base with paper label with crest with swaddled baby —7 ¾in. (20cm.) high (missing thumb and whatever was in her hand, discoloured) - The Grecian Bend was a much ridiculed fashion for wearing a large bustle and bending forward, named after hunched women in Greek sculptures, it caused women even more pain for the sake of fashion!
