An interesting Disney/Steiff pre-production sample ‘Disney’ Winnie the Pooh, a yellow plush Pooh with well modelled face, jointed legs, red top and Made in China label —14in. (35.5cm.) high; and a similar flocked plastic Pooh; with a letter from Edward Catchpole from Disney Consumer Products on headed paper describing the process of working with Steiff to develop their Disney Pooh, Steiff was already making their Classic Pooh range based on the Shepard drawings, he describes sending Steiff fabric samples, Disney sew in labels and Pooh logos so they could achieve this final project. This was the only sample made and it was decided by Steiff that it was too ‘modern’ and it was not ‘Steiff’ and the project was dropped
