A rectangular tin deed box, painted black having Wolley v Pole in gilt paint to front, with carry handles, 33.5cm x 47cm x 28cm high containing full contents of a legal case between Wolley v Pole, 25th August 1863 held at Surrey Summer Assizes Court, full copy shorthand notes of five day trial, all evidence submitted to the court, newspaper reports of the time reporting the case, plans of the property, brief for the defendant, Pole was the Company Secretary for Sun Fire Office and Wolley was accused of arson, the case related to a fire at Campden House Kensington, statements of facts and evidence, plaintiffs claim for furniture, papers referring to the final settlement of the account from 1877, extracts from the summing up of the judge 29th August, index and inventory of the house, together with a poster advertising the stage adaptation of the case called Ixion or The Man at The Wheel which was performed 5th October 1863, juts over a month after the judgement from the case was received. Sun Fire Office received a fair amount of negative publicity from the press at the time and wherever there is a reference, it has been underlined in red pencil.
