This lot is an extremely rare 1930s Leitz accessory, the Leica Gun by E. Leitz Inc. of New York, developed the Leica Gun at the suggestion of Attilio Gatti, a celebrated Italian-born, explorer, author and film maker who led thirteen African safaris between the 1920s and 1940s. Gatti urgently needed a hand-held support for the long telephoto lenses he fitted to his Leica camera for rapid sequence wildlife photography
