Please book an appointment to come and view.

November's sale commences with Asian Art in conjunction with the focus in the London market. Our section offers curated works of Asian art along with Asian interior decorators’ pieces. Of particular note is Lot 1 an interesting Chinese spherical bronze vase with two character marks to the base and extensive patina. It is in with a pre-sale estimate of £700-900.

At a certain times in history porcelain was simply ballast for the trade ships leaving China, but at other times it has been China’s most prized commodity. There are various lots of Chinese export ware in the sale, including Lot 123 a underglaze blue and white teapot with continuous decoration of Mandarin ducks in water, of small but far from diminutive proportions. Those with an appreciation of the culture of Japan and Japanese woodblock printing will delight in a small cloth bound volume Lot 134 c1906 published by Simpkins, Marshall, Hamilton, Keats & Co, with representations of all the months of the year.

We will be holding bi-annual Asian Art sales and are now inviting entries. If you think you have something suitable email helen@specialauctionservices.com

Look no further than lot 219, for an iconic collector’s item: the Dunhill aquarium lighter. The series was first issued in 1949 and in numerous variations. All the originals are made of carved and hand painted Lucite, mounted in metal. Fast forward to 2020 and the series are being reissued as luxury objects in palladium and gold. Our original piece is estimated at £400-£600.

In our ceramics section there are some fine porcelain figures probably by the Chelsea factory. Lot 196 early English porcelain polychrome figures of Cupid and recumbent dogs, both with red anchor marks. They are estimated to reach between £300 and £500.

A London hallmarked silver epergne, lot 353, possibly by Horace Woodward & Co Ltd, is a very decorative example. Estimated at £200-£300, this would work perfectly alongside lot 200 a group of nine Continental porcelain oyster dishes, for dining in style………. socially distanced of course!
